Our Team

The company was founded by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals in 2020. A small and efficient operations structure allows the team to bring affordable healthcare services to the communities in which they operate. As well as running the date-today of the company, the operations are under the caring and watchful eye of an executive team. They bring with them the collective experience of work with with mental health, learning disabilities, alcohol and drug misuse, HIV, homelessness and children with special needs (SEND) disabilities, and their families. The team also supports adults with learning disabilities, inclusive of the elderly. With a collective spirit of providing care that matters, the company provides a provides personal and customised services. Given the size of the company, each manager is able to know and relate closely to each service user.

Areas of Specialisation

Direct2U Care Limited service offering is not limited to supporting the elderly, we will also provide care and support for people with learning disabilities, mental health, dementia, physical disabilities, and Autism so that individuals can be supported no matter their care needs or personal circumstance.

Autism

Autism is not an illness. Being autistic does not mean you have an illness or disease. It means your brain works in a different way from other people. It’s something you’re born with or first appears when you’re very young.

If you’re autistic, you’re autistic your whole life. Autism is not a medical condition with treatments or a “cure”. But some people need support to help them with certain things.

We know that no one-size-fits-all approach is the best when working with autism. Because autism affects each person differently, we work out a custom plan for each Service User. It is important to us that the Service User feels empowered.

Dementia

It’s normal for your memory to be affected by stress, tiredness, certain illnesses and medicines. But if you’re becoming increasingly forgetful, particularly if you’re over the age of 65, it’s a good idea to talk to a GP about the early signs of dementia. Dementia is a syndrome (a group of related symptoms) associated with an ongoing decline of brain functioning. There are many different causes of dementia, and many different types. People often get confused about the difference between Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Alzheimer’s disease is a type of dementia and, together with vascular dementia, makes up the majority of cases.

We work with care and compassion, understanding that dementia can be challenging and stressful for Service Users and their families. Our approach is to provide the right support to ensure that the experience is rewarding and satisfying for each Service User.

Learning Disabilities

A learning disability affects the way a person learns new things throughout their lifetime. A learning disability affects the way a person understands information and how they communicate. This means they can have difficulty understanding new or complex information, learning new skills and coping independently. Around 1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability. It’s thought up to 350,000 people have a severe learning disability. This figure is increasing.

We form part of a professional team that will provide support and assistance to each Service User with learning disabilities. We support each Service User to live a full and independent life as much as is possible. We respect each Service User’s dignity and privacy.

Mental Health

The definition of mental health in the national ‘No Health without Mental Health’ policy is that it is a positive state of mind and body, feeling safe and able to cope, with a sense of connection with people, communities and the wider environment. Levels of mental health are influenced by the conditions people are born into, grow up in, live and work in.Mental ill-health is very common. It affects one in four people in the course of their lives.

Mental health issues are approached with the right attitude and sensitivities. There are many different types of mental health challenges that people face, but what they do have in common is the need for customised support to ensure that they can still live a healthy and comfortable life. This is where we excel and provide our very best care and support.

Physical Disabilities

Under the Equality Act 2010, a disabled person is defined as “someone who has a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on their ability to do normal daily activities.

Supported living services can help if you do not want to live in residential care but you’re finding it difficult to cope at home.

Our teams works tirelessly to support adults with disabilities, right across the board. The objective is to ensure that our Service Users are given the assistance they require based on a discussed and agreed upon plan. A Service User’s way of life can be improved with our services. We always aim to make a positive impact.

Palliative / End of Life Care

End of life care is support for people who are in the last months or years of their life. End of life care should help a person to live as well as possible until they die and to die with dignity. End of life care includes palliative care. If you have an illness that cannot be cured, palliative care makes you as comfortable as possible, by managing pain and other distressing symptoms.

We know that this is one of the most difficult times for Service Users and their families. We provide specialist care where needed, and in a timely manner. Working with other partners in healthcare, we believe in an an approach that eases the burdens on Service Users and their families.

Elderly Care

Being able to stay healthy in later life is a crucial issue for all of us. We are improving care and supporting older people to look after their own health.

Generally, someone over the age of 65 might be considered an older person. However, it is not easy to apply a strict definition because people can biologically age at different rates so, for example, someone aged 75 may be healthier than someone aged 60. Instead of simply age, ‘frailty’ has a bigger impact on their likelihood to require care and support.

We support elder people to remain as healthy and independent as possible, for as long as possible, within their own communities / homes. We lighten the load and work with our partners in healthcare to ensure that each elderly Service User receives the right care customised towards their needs.

Consent & Confidentiality

In all that we do, we embrace the consent and confidentiality of each Service User’s information. We also ensure the preservation of each Service User’s freedom of thought, religion, expression, personal beliefs and values. This is not negotiable in any way.

CPD Training

We believe in adapting to industry changes and technical developments. As such, we always ensure that our teams participate in continuous professional development training programmes with special emphasis on Mental Health, Disabilities, Palliative Care and more.

Partners in Health

We aim to provide professional care that promotes independence through partnership working with other agencies such as advocates, health professionals, and schools. This ensure that that all stakeholders have a voice that can aid in collective decision making.

Monitoring

As part of regulatory requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulations 2014) we are required to assess, review and monitor the quality of our service provision to ensure the safety of Service Users and to minimise any risks. From time to time we therefore update support plans and risk assessments, use questionnaires and audits, to ensure that we gather the information required, so we can take steps where needed.

Self Help Remedies

It is important that Service Users and their families or their representatives engage with us in the promotion of self care and independence of the service user. At Direct2U we believe in the development of the physical, relational, emotional, psychological and spiritual domains of our Service Users hence we encourage them to work positively with their support networks whilst we assist with their deficits.

User Rights & Complaints

Access to service is based on need and people are not compromised on the grounds of their gender, marital status, religious or cultural beliefs, political affiliations, sexuality or sexual preference, particular disability or ethnic background. Our service welcomes any comments, concerns or complaints about the services delivered or how to improve the care services provided.
